Title: Can you help me chose a tv?
Post by: vw_golf_nutter on 18 September 2012, 20:45
hi guys, seen as i am a women and totally useless when it comes to technology i was wondering if you could help me chose a tv?
i only have £300 max and have so far learned that i should be looking for 1080p HD and also know it should be black! lol thats as far as ive got! I would like as big as possible, as good quality as i can get and no rubbish brands. Im not sure if plasma, lcd or led is best but i have found these 2 so far which seem to fit the bill...

http://direct.asda.com/Polaroid-P40LCD12-40ins-Full-HD-LCD/000532414,default,pd.html

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5296084/c_1/1|category_root|Home+entertainment+and+sat+nav|14419512/c_2/2|14419512|Televisions|14419667.htm

these 2 are lcd. i could get an led tv but the biggest one i can find thats any good for under £300 is 32".

are either of the 2 above any good? or would you go for a slightly smaller LED one, think it was samsung.

thanks

ok that is good, only negatives really are that i wanted to do a monthly plan which i cant do with amazon and also if i was going to go over £300 it would probably be for a more modern LED tv but i am tempted. hhmmm....

As a general rule I always stick to samsung, but its tricky when you're on a budget! They certainly do the best lcd/led tvs, or panasonic if you go down the plasma route. Check out richersounds, theyre my number 1 shop for home cinema kit and usuall have good deals on. If you really cant stretch above 300 but want a decent sized screen I'd recomend this:

Not sure if they do finance deals tho   :undecided:

x2 for Richer Sounds.  I got my television from there.  They're not the cheapest, but fairly reasonable.  Plus when I went in the sales guy didn't feed me the usual bullsh!t.

oi u taking the mick about the plug again!!!
and i can actually wire a plug, one of the only things i learnt at school i think!

shame they dont do that Sharp TV online as that looks really good. I like samsung too, the one I had was a 42" plasma samsung but my ex took that with him when he left
ive found a 32" samsung led tv which is £200 off so it was a £499 tv so looks like its good quality, not sure i can live with a 32" after having a 42" for so long though!

Yeh the problem with tv's is once you have a big one you can never settle for something smaller . . .

They have quite a few shops nationwide, just find your closest, as bob said the guys in store are really helpful too!

Looks a good deal, I always have Sony TV's but in reality, these days theirs not a lot between them all, with many sharing the same internal components, stick to the stuff that you've heard of, and you wont go far wrong

ahh that would of been the one if they had it in stock! ive been talked into a 40" toshiba at currys but have come away just to have a think...
the one i liked in currys was a 43" plasma samsumg but its only 720p and not full HD. they made a massive deal of this not being very good in currys and that it would look rubbish with my blue ray player, but ive just googled the spec of the one i have now (which my ex is taking) and this one is a 42" samsung plasma and is also only 720p but the blue ray dvds look ok to me, plus with that one i could say to my ex, HA mines bigger than yours!

ok im down to 2 now... they seem to be the same sorta spec but the samsung is reduced from £699 to £399 and the Sharp is £449 to £399 so the advertising has worked and its making me think the Samsung is a better deal. What do you think?

Sharp http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9089170.htm

Samsung http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/samsung-series-5-ue40eh5000-full-hd-40-led-tv-12350447-pdt.html
