Title: oil sump question

my friend and i have fitted my new sump and oil pump today, but we did it with a ratchet and socket set, but i have been told use a torque wrench, i havent tightened the bolts up much just hand tight then a quarter turn on all the bolts will this be ok ?? or will this not be ok and is likley mess up ?

Thats be cool mate, youl kill the threads over tightening them.
I did mine up using a alan key then nipped with a 10mm socket. Just makesure you got plenty of silicone sealant mate for a good seal.

thank god for that i thought ive messed it all up lol i havent tightened them up much, just hand tight then a quarter turn on all the bolts the same, used vw/audi sealant so hope it doesnt leak, how long does it take that sealant go off?

Usually a few hours, but for piece of mind, leave it overnight before sticking oil in.

I left mine for about 2 hours  :grin:
No leaks after a few weeks, You should wait longer really but it was warm that day too.

thats alright then, my car is out of action now untill i get my ko3s turbo so will be left standing for about 3/4 weeks without oil in, so that should sort it, just hope i put enough sealant on to seal it  :smiley: knowing me as soon as i put oil in, in a month it will leak  :drool: lol how much pressure does the sump take ?? or is it jut there to catch the oil like a reservoir ?

great stuff so it should be sealed and dont need worry about it leaking, if its only catching oil  :smiley: at least its got 3 weeks for the sealant to harden  :smiley:

the sump sealant i used was dirko, is this anygd and does it harden alright ??

Don't use to much either or the sealant will drop off into sump then get sucked up  blocking the oil pick up pipe

if you have used to much leave it atleast 24 hours let the sealant stick and go hard
