i keep seeing jettas on the internet with the black panel that goes between the rear lights to make the back plush. they are all like a matt black panel. what is this call and where can i get one? what it a later gti part or is it after market?

They're from a later type Jetta mate.
-
ok sweet what are they called so i can search for the right thing? also will one fit strait onto m early jetta?
-
Jetta number plate panel?
And should do as VW loathed to make major changes to panels in the 80's and 90's.
-
Aha found them. They are called a number plate tub.
Bloody expensive tho.

what doesnt mate?

The panel for the boot so it kinda looks flush, silly :)

I can see why you'd want a rear panel plinth, but they are very common now, I love the fact that yours doesn't have one, seems very retro, and understated in a nice way...
I'm a firm believer that when VW's are concerned, less is definitely more!
As is looks

but they are very common now
Are they? Truth be told, I hardly ever see a Jetta, makes me feel unique :D But I can't say I had ever seen this flush boot bracket thingy, first time I read about it here. But I agree, less is definitely more. I don't even like the look much of big bumpers :D But they arn't to bad, wouldn't say no if I purchased another.

yeah i see what ou are saying and yeah ni prefer the small bumper look. the reason i wanted the rear boot tub was mainly as i wanted to match the rear to my new front end/grill. but you do have a good point.
