Title: KO3 turbo blown, KO3-S fit?
Post by: Bellend on 16 September 2012, 14:23
Got a mate and his dad has a MK4 GTI 1.8T and was saying the turbo is blown. I haven't looked at the vehicle but aparrently the garage over the road said it was a write off but I doubt it, the garage is known to be lazy and pretty crap.

I have sourced a KO3-S just up the road and am wondering if this fits without worry?

Does it need to be mapped or anything or can I bolt it on and carry on?

Cheers.

it will fit as they look the same just the 3s has more blades inside the turbo iirc if the cars mapped already it will fit and run and pull a bit harder , you might be able to push the turbo a bit more if you get the map ajusted though check for cracks on the hot / exhaust side they always go there because people dont let there cars cool after driving hard

Remapped or not fit the K03s it will run fine anyhow.
No mods needed when fitting the k03s everything is the same fitment.
K03 has 12 blades, K03s has 8

Goodluck.

I just had a ko3S fitted and its a straight forward enough job....but you do need a TIP as the KO3 TIP is attach to the turbo..

Good call. I would buy a silicone jobby off ebay.
Or just get one from local scrappy but makesure its not from a AGU or ARZ engine code as they run K03 turbo's and wont fit.
