Title: wipers only move slow on all speeds

Hi peeps . Ive just brought my first mk4 golf gti and the wipers hardly move on any speed on the stark . Can anyone tell me whats wrong with it so i can get it sorted before the bad weather gets here and they dont work at all lol . Thanks in advance .Dave

Seized wiper linkage which may have also now burnt out your motor  :smiley:

Ok thanx so just change the whole linkage and motor set up ? . Thanks . Dave

Possibly just the linkage, the Motor may be ok you wont know until you strip it out  :smiley:

Just change the linkage the motor will be fine. Mine did this ,in the end they stopped working on a 98 mile drive home on the motorway  :sick: in heavy rain. You have to keep the speed at 110mph to blow the rain off your windscreen so you can see.  :nerd: never again that sucked.

If your gonna buy a used setup with the motor then check its right electrical connector cos there's 2 kinds. The linkage new from vw is about £40. Best buy new as a used one might not last long

was 2 year ago i done mine, glad id checked cos most breakers wanted over £50!
