Hi, I've just bought my first Golf GTi, it's a 2008 MK5 and I absolutely love it!
I've had a few problems with web sites identifying the car from the registration and when I received my V5C from DVLA today I noticed it has some mistakes and missing values compared to my old car.
Can anyone check their V5C for their MK5 and give me the correct values? My incorrect or questionable items are:
Model: GOLF GTI {Should this have (200) after it as that's what it seems to come up as on insurance sites?}
Body Type: SALOON {Obviously it's a hatchback but what's the correct description?}
Max. net power (kW): MISSING
Engine number: MISSING {How do I find it?}
Max. permissible mass (exec. m/c): MISSING
Mass in service: MISSING
Technical permissible maximum towable mass of the trailer:
braked (kg): MISSING
unbraked (kg): MISSING
Sound level:
stationary (dB(A)): MISSING
engine speed (min-1): MISSING
drive-by (db(A)): MISSING
Thanks guys!

Ring up DVLA and ask them??
Should have engine number on for sure!

have you had any luck dude?

You think you have problems, whne I got mine, it said it was a Passat. I had to get a letter from VW Germany (not VW UK) before they would change it. :angry:

This is an easy one. Call VW customer services and explain what is wrong and they will advise you on what to do, which is go to your dealer with the log book and they need to fax VW UK the log book and covering letter saying what is wrong. VW UK will then right to DVLA and get it put right. Mine a Golf Plus accoring to the log book :laugh:

Managed to find all the missing data from a couple of sources, DVLA said I had to mark on the actual form the changes and also write a covering letter explaining why I want to change the data. I sent it all off and eventually they just sent me a new V5C with all the corrections now questions asked.
I'm just wondering now how long it will take, if ever, the details will show on websites when I enter my car registration?!
