Looking to buy Replica Mk5 R32 Alloy wheels for my Golf , they come in 19" and 18" but im unsure what would look best and be the most practical.
As it stands im not planning on lowering my golf because i work in and around town where speed bumps are everywhere .. cant really be bothered hearing the sickening sound of my car getting scraped
what do you guys think 18s or 19s
-
18s Ftw
-
18s are still big and perfect for golfs, and mine only scrape a tad on full lock. Think ull have more issues with 19s tbh.
-
20's are where its at!
-
Sad truth is, if you're not going to lower it, it'll look like a tractor on 18's or 19's!
If you want it to handle well 17's are the future....

handle well and golf shouldn't be in the same sentence lol.

It's possible, but takes more work than most people can be bothered with....

The trick is to find a set of wheels that "look" bigger than they are

True... BBS LM'Rs 17inch look smaller that what they are!
-
17"s for handling and comfort, 18"s are better for looks but in real terms are the biggest you would want to fit.
-
19's. nothing smaller.

To be fair handling seems to be the last thing on the mind of a lot of VAG owners,
Go as low as is stupidly possible ( even if you have to remove the arb and notch the chassis ) and fit the biggest wheels you can, Both do hideous things to handling

Yup, you end up with a car that looks like a hatch back with silly wheels to the general public, and to those with a proper car, it looks like a lowered hatch back with silly wheels.
Doesn't float my boat. I owned a 230bhp A3 with big spaced wheels and stretched tyres, and whilst I loved it to bits, you couldn't really use it all that well.

Mine on 18" LM'R's wouldn't go any bigger, especially if only standard brakes look crapp
