Title: Anybody made an App?
Post by: salsheikh on 13 September 2012, 12:44
Guys,

I would love to put an app on the marked but wanted some advise before i got started. I have an idea that i think will work and i have been looking into the competition and at present I can only find 1.

I have no idea regarding the app hosting etc so wanted to know if anyone has got an app out there and what i need to look out for.

Some app makers/companies out there charge approx £10 a month for hosting/support for the app

My brother in law owns his own app gaming company called Ayopa games! They have launched some very successful games such as W.E.L.D.E.R and his previous company where he was a director launched angry birds.

Is your app idea going to be made for Apple or Android? I know all apps that are launched on Apple have to be approved by Apple themselves before launch. Android is a free for all market where you can launch any app but this has its own disadvantages.

If you want to send me a pm with your basic idea I will ask him which is the best way to help launch your product and get you some helpful tips.

£10 p/m isn't a lot if you're making money out of it  but usually the app dev supports the app and the market/store you pop it in hosts it. Unless you're talking about a non-smartphone / tablet app ?

I'd concentrate on iOS, Android, Windows 8/Phone 8.

Im making an App right now, its a travel utility app for fuel expenses etc.

Its not easy, even if you have programming knowledge. Also, if you do speak to someone about it make sure you sign a Non disclosure agreement. :)

If you are releasing the app on android you need to register via Google play as a developer. If you are charging for the app you need to submit financial details. Once you have done this you can then just upload it.

Apple apps are similar bit you have to get approval from Apple prior to releasing it.
