Title: ABS Pump
Post by: Shadowfax1083 on 12 September 2012, 22:25
Hi everyone,
I'm after some advice and help please. It seems my ABS pump has given up the ghost (on my Mk4 Gti) and so obviously i need a new one. The bloke at the garage started spouting about a new one costing £800!!!! I've since found plenty on ebay for under £100 (obviously not new though!!). Now I'm guessing because the pump comes with the ECU unit the serial numbers on the pumps and ECU's need to match with the ones I buy? Also is it a big job swopping these parts over? Im no mechanic but Im willing to give it a go on advice!!!
Thanks all in advance

Its been on the diagnostic machine in the garage and thats what the fault code came back as apparently. The ABS warning light is on on my dash, but in all honesty braking seems fine and there has been no lock up of the wheels when iv braked hard.

try a different garage to scan the codes first before you shell that money out, could be an old code.

fuses all fine? wiring checked?

Get the codes cleared and see if it comes back as a 1st step.

make sure the fuses on top of the battery are clean and shiny if not that can cause a fault as the system voltage sensitive. my girlfriend car come up with abs pump knackered but after some research i found out about them cleaned them up and it all sorted.
