hi everyone hope to meet some of you at santapod sunday
anyway how fast should a mk1 cab go because my speedo goes around 10 miles faster than me and my speedo looks like it would do 140 minus 10  130 is that right no mods that i know of :undecided:

Hello,
The official VW figures give 116mph as the max speed.
The most I've ever had out of my stock 1.8 Clipper was about 108. I don't think it would physically possible to get mine to go any faster, bearing in mind they weigh a ton and are about as aerodynamic as a barn.

I've got documented proof of my old cab doing 96!, but it does have 'ickle wheels.
On the flip side - I did get 150 out of my new toy yesterday, with a fair bit left to go. (private road, obviously)

so wots the new toy???
-
Hey Gail, how you doing ? I've only ever had about 110 out of mine (while in Germany of course) because I never wanted to push it but I managed to get a best time of 17.208 on the strip at GTi festival which I think is fairly respectable for a heavy floor panned skip !

so wots the new toy???
Its a motorbike I bet.

^ sure is! Just got a 2001 GSXR 600. I'm having so much fun, and don't actually miss the cab too much.

I'm not too sure of the official figures, but it's about 160 in standard form (I've already started to tune it up) with a 0-60 of less than 4 secs. It'll do for a while, at least till I get used to riding again, then I'll go for something faster.

Yamaha R1 mate....
Talking of speed - I managed to get my black cab yesterday at 100 - nice and smooth with the hood down in the sun... ;) (On my personal race track of course...!!!! yeah.. called the M25)
