thanks, had a look at the new cts yesterday, seens the plug was not snapped into place propperly,
wd and snaped the tab down with a small scred driver, will have to wait a couple of days to see if my light comes back on,
but yeat could change the thermostat i suppose, never thought about that,
car is a standard 2.0 8 gti,
looking for a 1.8t if i can get one, the 2.0 8v gti dont feel like it should be a gti !!
will update in a couple of days or when and if light comes back on,
also i have a crash data removal tool and airbad fault code remover if anyone close to me needs to use one.

you need to check the measuring blocks to see if the gauge agrees with what the ecu is seeing.. but seeing as you've already replaced the temp sender and its seeing an implausible signal it is likely that your thermostat is stuck considering what you've said about the temp gauge. that may be causing it to overfuel enough to cause the other faults but it could be dead 2nd lambda sensor or cat.. or both!
