Why have I got a distributor from a Audi 80 on my 1990 16 Valve Golf.Has anyone else got this or am I the only one.
-
Might be a daft question but how do you know its from an audi 80?
Parts often have more than one make stamped on them as they can be pretty universal. I.e VW Audi Seat Skoda
-
Only found out when I came to fit a dizzy cap and rotor arm,The cap on my Dizzy has the leads coming out at a right angle, rotor arm fitted OK,cross referenced the distributor serial no and found out that it was of a Audi 80 and then VAG dealer in Burton On Trent wanted £70 for cap(yes £70),got a cap in the end from GSF in Derby for £25

Stick with the vw one then!
The previous owner must have used the audi one for what ever reason. i.e nicked it from a scrappy

VW dizzy cap wont fit Audi 80 distributor.
The Audi dizzy cap is held on by 2 screws.
The VW dizzy cap looked as though it would be held on by clips.

get a new vw dizzy from the scrappy mate, job done
