Title: ipod integration - 2011 Gti
Post by: labbetts on 10 September 2012, 12:58
Hi chaps, quick question
Is there any functionality difference between the ipod (media in adapter Part number 000 051 446) priced at £21.00, and the Geniune ipod adapter that goes in your glovebox (Part number 1K0 051 444) priced at £208.00

I'm presuming one is a kit if you don't have the media connection in the center console - but i stand to be corrected.

car is a 2011 GTi

Regards
S

Don't know 100%, but I know with the Bluetooth kit on the Tiguan I tried the other day it not only gave you handsfree, it also allowed access to all the music on the phone, too.

Bloody brilliant bit of kit.

I suspect the £21 part is just the cable that goes from the iPhone to the MDI plug in the centre console...whereas the £208 kit is the whole MDI set-up that your GTI already has installed.

If you have bought the car used from a VW dealer, you should insist that they supply the cables as they are an integral part of the "Approved Used" car. They often go missing and many used cars get sold without them. I kicked up a fuss when I picked up the GT, as there were no cables or mats. They were standard fit items with the car when it was new, so as an "Approved Used" car, it should be complete.

I insisted as well but I still had to pay...

I am not fond of using an ipod which stays always in the car...
I had that for two years and the wretched Ipod played very unpredictable...one day yes...two days no...one morning yes.....one week no...drove me crazy..
