Title: lower air filter box looks wrong?
Post by: razla on 09 September 2012, 15:14
whilst giving my 83 gti a service this weekend, I went to clean the K+N panel filter the guy(I bought the car from) told me it had and found this

No panel filter there at all, in fact the box looks wrong to me, the lower box is all foam and inside is a few layers of the same stuff. Is this a common conversion? If so, I think I'd rather have the original box and filter back on.

Anyone shed any light on this please?

TIA, Andy.

this is a pipercross foam filter, many available on ebay, etc..

i wouldn't get one as it could draw hot air in easily from the engine..

Easy enough to find a s/h air box, that looks a complete bodge tbh
