Title: Building up new shocks .
Post by: spudboy6 on 08 September 2012, 22:12
I'm putting my shock and spring kit on the golf next week when it arrives ( shock and spring kit )

The photo didn't show dust covers or bumpstops but can't be sure if there included or not .

If the kit comes bare is it worth replacing the bumpstops and cover or will I need some shorter ones ?

I wouldn't worry too much about the bumpstops but the dustcovers are important.

Depends how low you are?
Are the roads bad where you live?

If your 60mm and have bumpy roads you like to drive fast on, then fit them.

Going 60/40 or 60/60 as rear is stepped , roads are fine where I live but might fit them anyways can't cause any harm I suppose just incase that day comes where I find a pot hole ,

P.s it's a 1.8 - couldn't go fast if it wanted to :)

Pretty much all just been re-surfaced between bix and Henley ,

Wallingford has some awfull roads the bumps by the cross keys pub and fire station are splitter killers !

If there is nothing wrong with the bumpstops why replace them, the dustcovers keep crud away from the top seals on the shocks and now your going to explain why this is not reasonably sensible advice?
