Howdy
Prob being asked before, I did search and found a thread but no mention of if 6.5j or 7j
My mk3 is lowered about 60mm (I think)
So what sizes can I fit.. That arent Gonna rub standard arches..
I'm guessing
195/45/16
205/45/16
205/40/16
Any others that maybe ok that won't knacker up the speedo..
-
215/40/16 was the factory size.
Mine is lowered at least 60mm and suffered no scrubbing on 215/40/16s.
Those, or any of the others you mentioned will fit.
-
Mine was lowered 80/90mm on 205 45's and never got any rubbing.
-
Excellent news :)
I will hopefully get em done this week!
Then gotta get some part worms in the interim but at least I have a few sizes to aim at..
Thinking 195s preferably so I can space em out a bit at some point .. :)
-
195 are cheaper too
-
195/45/16's would be my choice

well, taken them to CAS coatings in Bradford today, gonna be ready on wed for collection, then gotta rebuild them :( gonna take a day, bolts have being soaked in nitromours then coke then fairly liquid, and just need a scotchbrite beofre putting them in.
couple of questions
what size thread are the threads for the bolts?, im guessing they arent gonna run a tap in them for me, and i know it'd be best to clean the threads beofre refitting, i thought it was m7?
should i run some sealent round beofre fitting the centre back in? whats best?
and also should i use a torque ratchet on the wheel bolts? if so what pressure? (gonna have to get one thou :( )
-
Threads are m7x1.0
Wouldnt bother with sealent as they never had it
Dont know about torque figures,i just used thread lock and did them tight enough ,dont go mad tight on them

Torque for wheel bolts is 110nm
-
Looks great but really cant help thinking the center should be couple shades darker.

Cheers Wayne, sadly I don't have a torque ratchet just yet, next on the list next pay..
I do have a electric knock gun which I whipped em off and back on with then use a normal wheel brace to tighten up, then used my 16st foot to stand on a couple of each bolts on each wheel..
If anything could be a little too tight.. Will try and borrow a ratchet very soon..

Your prob right, but for 88quid for stripping and powder coating in that silver I can't complain..
There was a premium on some colours so had to refrain from getting to expensive, I'm in trouble for having them done as it is :), i don't think they had another silver to pick, but for now they will certainly do, as much as I love my white wheels, just an inch too small...
