Anyone
-
its not a job i think anyone would give a price on i know i wouldn't figure on gearbox overhaul
problem is with mk2 boxes when you pull them apart you can find quite a lot of worn parts that really need doing whie its apart to avoid "since you issues"
so about £600 iiirc was the last price i saw for a recon box add to that a clutc and a couple of hours to ge it out and a coupplpe to put it back

PM 'Hotgolf' on ClubGTi, he's in south Wales but is known as a bit of a demon with a box'.

Or just change the oil for some good quality stuff.
-
Redline mtf and fitting a mk3 weighted shift rod will dampen down the crunch.
-
Better option in the long run is a recon box.

I had the 2nd gear synchro replaced when I swapped my 5th gear for a longer ratio one. Cost about £250-300. Was carried out by Andrew Lennox 01792 293483, based in Swansea. Quality job and the car is now on 235,000 miles and no 2nd gear crunch!
