So as the title says my mk2 gti just died on me, started gradually slowing down until it stops now when I turn the key the engine starts for a couple of turns and dies. I've checked for anything obvious but can't spot anything, I'm thinking fuel delivery problem, either crud in the tank or a dodgy pump, if so I don't think there's anything I can do roadside, but wanted to know if anyone had any bright ideas?
Cheers,
Ozz

Rotor arm?

Checked that, all a bit dirty in the dizzy cap but no change after a clean up. Ended up getting a very dodgy tow home from a mate, still pretty sure its fuel delivery problem. Best case scenario will be that the fuel gauge is buggered and the tanks empty!

All good, put some petrol in and jobs a good 'un :embarrassed:

Its ok ive already laughed at myself, I deserve it
Same thing happened with the sender on my old beetle, although that thing had so many problems it didnt rank highly on the "to fix" list! Still never cool for a car enthusiast to run out of petrol!

The mk1 van.... Out of diesel on the M4 near slough.... Dash to a petrol station in my old Cupra R.... Made us miss the meet with the rest of the gang at the services!
