Ok.....I have finally just got insured on my golf gti...I have over the last few months, rung "every single" insurance company i could find...
Im 21 but this is my first insurance(was on company before) on my standard '87 8 valve tpft is ?940
Still ridiculous I know but thats the cheapest I could find!!...BRENTACRE INSURANCE in swansea (do a "google" search for their number...the nice thing is any mods, alloys etc are included at no extra cost.My covernote arrived the following morning.
depending on your age it may be worth calling HIC...
Tesco quoted me ?1800 third party...(I take it your not 21 a9wyn ;)
So there you have it...I think i've saved you some time...give "kerry" a call at Brentacre and I'd be surprised if you can find a cheaper quote.

sorry '87 project didn't realise your only 21 i'm quite a bit older than that (well over double phsyically but 21 mentally) a mate of mine went with BRENTACRE with a 16v gti and was very pleased with his quote but he is the same age as me, unfortunately insurance for younger drivers is very expensive

Have you tried Adrian Flux? I've been quoted ?420 for a VR6, tpf&t. I'm 28.

:P

Barry Grainger brokers is worth a call. Just insured my Mk3 GTI 8v for ?410 fully comp, with 4 yrs NCB and one non fault claim. Also tried HIC but slightly cheaper and more xs, but still far better than quotes from Tesco etc. I found a lot of companes want proof of fitting for alarm/immobiliser but because the car already had it when I bought it the paperwork is long gone.

try www.axamotor.co.uk ..
Im 21 got 2 years NC and they insured my golf gti 8v for ?600 fully comp...
Harr1s...............

im 17 with a 1.6 driver - tesco offered me ?2100 tpft........ nice (heavy sarcasm there)
-
Try sainsbury's car insurance. For a w-reg 2.0 GTI 115bhp,fully comp ?420 obviously depends on ncb and area etc.hope this helps.
-
could be worth your while giving greenlight insurance a call, you can find a link to them on the club vr6 website,
http://www.club-vr6.co.uk/
they were 300 quid cheaper than direct line for my vr6
-
dawnbrian,
what are your circumstances and what car are you trying to insure?
John.
-
Also try www.egg.co.uk. they quoted me ?475 fully comp on a VR6, but then i am pushing 40, with 5+ years NCD. The online service is fast and recognises reg numbers!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D
-
Try www.elephant.co.uk
I think they ask for the money in one go and not in installments.
-
my advice would be to ring darren at hic on 08451290290 he is the bomb, 498 on a mk1 fully comp, ?7000 agreed value, 6000m limited mileage bargain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! beat my other quotes by ?700!!!
im 24 had a bad accident and 3 points for speeding so i was well chuffed happy dubbing whoever you go with...

Nationwide is good , Insured my 1.8T for ?700 F/C
