afternoon people ,just a quick one .anyone got a 4motion ,and if so what do i need to look out for when buying as possibly goin to look at one the weekend ,any help greatly appreciated ,thanks   brett

look at service history to see if the haldex has been serviced an start it from cold an listen for chain rattle,they can be expensive to run aswell  :smiley: or lewy still has a low mileage 1 for sale in the classifieds

cheers mate ,what about the chains on these ive read online somewhere about them not being changed for lifetime of the car or is that if its not been abused  ?,sorry for all the questions just want to make sure i dont miss something obvious when looking at it ,brett

my last 1 had 185k on it when i sold it an it never had the chains done  :smiley: had everything else though,The actual chains arnt the weak point, the guides and tensioners are the parts that wear

excellent cheers or your help ,meant to be looking at one saturday 98k fsh ,and had service recently including haldex oil and filter ,seems pretty tidy but will find out when i get there i suppose ,unless anyone lives in leighton buzzard and wants to have a peek at it lol

alrite all again ,this is the one i had my eye on but has been on ebay 2/3 times now with no one buying it ,looks tidy enough ,whats peoples opinions,cheers brett
like said before wanted to do a bit of homework before i went and had  a look as its 1 1/2-2hr drive

It's a bit of a crap advert which is probably why it hasn't sold.

Other than why he bought it/ wants to sell it, the seats and alloys it doesn't really say anything.

Find out mileage, previous owners, what works been done to it, is there any advisories from lot? Haldex service due?

Could be good for the money if you find out all the details.

yeah did ask few questions,and its has fsh with recent service including haldex oil and filter change ,which was one of the things i was told to look out for ,with 98k on the clock, i know if i view it need to start it from cold to listen for chain rattle and apparently the fans a common problem ,dont know much about mk4's in general as got a mk3 atm lol,cheers brett
only other thing is its had 9 owners iirc

you find cars with big engines have more owners as they buy them an sh!t there pants after findin out how much petrol they use  :grin: there is plenty more out there

agreed,both nice cras but first one has cream leathers ,and although the kids are getting older there still messy lol,and like said both got more doors ,thanks for the links but may just sit tight and wait for a nice 3dr as ive already decided i can live without a sunroof haha,brett

looks like i'll be spending more time in here now as collect my new toy tomorrow  :grin:,will post pics up when i collect it ,and thanks for all input in what to look out for etc...luckily father in law is mechanic so took him with me and he gave it the thumbs up lol

maybe a bit more but to be honest dont do loads a miles ,furthest i probably go in a day is 20 miles and thats normally only a sunday for kids footy lol,other wise just work and back

will take some tomorrow mate as pretty dark when we got back,but to give you an idea its a black 3 door lol,climate control ,heated seats etc ....
