iv got a tapping noise coming from the engine on my mk5 gti, it sounds bad! could it be the follower for the fuel pump?
-
Most likely your injectors, so nothing wrong

Does it sound similar?
If your still concerned post a video up if you can for everyone to listen to.
There are a variety of sounds coming from the engine so it can be hard to pin point, your alternator and associated pulleys will also contribute to noise.

Direct fuel injection probably. Mine sounds like a diesel
Althought it could be cam belt and auto tensioner. Either way no biggie

If you engine code is AXX, could be the cam chain which is expensive and the reason why your engine is Tappity sounding.

Just in case this is of any relevance to anyone. I've searched a few topics and see that it has been mentioned the AXX engine code is chain driven, which apparently is fault prone. I'd just like to point out the AXX is belt driven and no problem at all.

all TFSI engines have both a belt and a chain.
The exhaust cam has a belt, the exhaust cam and inlet cam are linked with a chain and a tensioner on the other side, with the hpfp
