Title: Indicators... Or lack of lol
Post by: J355 on 04 September 2012, 16:11
 :undecided:
Ok so here's my problem.. When I turn on my ignition the little green light on the dash is dim, When I try to indicate (in either direction) the light stays fully lit but the lights don't flash, If I hit my Hazard switch the lights flick as normal..

I've tried changing the fuse and relay for new ones but the problem persists...

Please help as this is not only my pride and joy but my day to day runner..

Many thanks in advance..

Matt

What about the indicator stalks on the steering wheel maybe?

Thanks Logeyboy :)

The stalks appear to work as they should, clicking into position and staying there..

i had the same fault but turned out to be the fuse, id suggest double checking the fuse, and then the relay. i assume the Dim green light is on when the circuit is open circuit. theres the potential to be a wiring fault.

I first thought fuse/relay so went to see the lovely folk of GSF and purchased a new relay but this made no difference I have also changed the fuse for a shiny new one.. I am by no means a Auto Electrician so have no idea how to sort the wiring :(

Just want to say thanks to everybody for helping me sort this out :)

Get someone to stand at back of car, and check all the rear lights If strange things happen, like the side lights come on when lets say the indicator is switched on, or the indicators light up when the brake is depressed, then this is most likely a bad earth... you need to check the brown earth wires are tight, clean, and not broken, and should be making proper contact with the body
I cant remember exactly where the earth wires are, but they will be in the boot, close to the rear lamps, trace back from the lamps, and you should find them

Hopefully this will sort it
