Title: help needed with air flow meter.... new to golf ownership
Post by: RICKSTAR20000 on 02 September 2012, 17:23
Hello folks.....
after some help and advice...
have a 95 golf gti 8v and when its damp or going to rain the car runs like a dog.... think its overfueling and wont rev freely.
recently changed the air filter for a k&n 57i unit... it had the adaptor for the afm...
since this it runs awful if i drive over 3000 rpm.. keeping it under this its fine..
changed coil, plugs and rotor arm.. think its the afm as i unplugged it and run fine albeit pick up was slow.
i got a afm off ebay but didnt realise there are 2 types.. and yes.. i got the wrong 1.
i have a bosch afm and is a big unit.. 1 i brought was hitachi and like a trumpet..
is there anyway i can fit the hitachi to my car or do i have to buy a new unit?
sorry for this just new to golf ownership and not come across this problem with previous cars.

If you buy another make sure it's the 2e motor bosch unit... and not the ady/agg simos type, so if you buy a 95my sensor it will be wrong again!
