Just brought a MK4 golf gti 1.8t 180 on a 2003/03
Wondering if someone could please advise me on the following problems:-
I have VCDS genuine copy, so if anything needs to be checked please advise how, and I will..
1) Only the drivers door and boot will open, all other doors remain as if they are deadlocked, will not open inside or out. - VCDS said central locking module (if its this, where is it?)
2) Idle control valve - Revs drop low, does not cut out, but drops quite low, can this part be cleaned? where is it located on a 1.8T?
3) possible electrical fault, when driving traction light will come on, and sometimes with the ABS light, however when scanned, there is no issue.
Other than that, drives spot on, and well impressed with only 62k on there.

Are the brake lights working Ok?
-
Brake lights seem to be working fine..
Someone else said something about a convenience module behind the steering wheel? Would you advise going with the one in the door? and will changing that one really fix the other doors? Seems a little too good too be true?
-
before spending any money on new parts just try this, disconnect the battery, sit down, have fag or coffee, reconnect battery and try the locking, you will prob find the locking is working as it should
-
If this works I owe you a bottle!

lol, i sorted 3 mk4s week before last doing this, im sure it will sort yours mate
post up how you get on dude
-
Im going to go disconnect it now, will post back in 30, thanks mate
-
Ok once reattached, drivers door works, boot works, and passenger rear door.
Drivers rear, and passenger door still wont open, wont open from the inside, outside, door handle, there dead locked
-
Now the back ones packed up again..
Would this be caused by the door module, or the one behind the steering wheel?
-
could be either mate. Might be worth disconnecting the CCM and seeing if it will let you open the doors manually?
-
Thats an idea, will try that tomorrow, i can never get the airbag off, so ill have to get someone to do that, did a proper search to find:-
01330 - Central control module for central convenience (J393)
Supply voltage to low - Intermittent
01135 - Interior motioring sensors
Open curcuit
00928 - Locking module for central locking - front drivers side (F220)
Implausible signal - intermittent
00929 - Locking module for central locking - front passenger side (F221)
Implausible signal - intermittent
00930 - Locking module for central locking - rear left side (F222)
Implausible signal - intermittent
00931 - Locking module for central locking - rear right side (F223)
Implausible signal - intermittent

TBH that sounds like your CCM is goosed
-
id pay for it to be that, instead of all the non sense with the doors
-
Yours will be the 1C0 CCM, they are around £50 second hand on ebay. I dread to think how much a new one is
-
will any letter at the end be ok?
Also where abouts does it go? looks abit big for behind the steering wheel?
thanks alot of your help mate, really appreciated!
-
It's not that big, probably A5 size. You need to replace yours with the exact same number. You can find out the part number via VAG COM
-
In section 46 on vag com? So it does go behind the wheel?
Nice one
-
not behind the steering wheel, just to the right of it behind the dash panel
Yeah 46 IIRC
-
right, unplugged the module, everything opens expect the front passenger door, this is still deadlocked.
Disconnected battery, still don't open..
Soon as the modules plugged in, the rear drivers packs up straight away..
-
Update **** booted the door a good few times from the inside, and the passenger door has started to work, well all of them to be honest, 1 in 5 times the passenger door won't open..
Now would you advise this is a CCM issue, or door module? weird or what :S

I would say the classic dry solder joints in the module :undecided:
-
Sounds like it's possibly CCM for the others and dry joints for the passenger door
-
what a nightmare, I got a bad feeling about sorting this passenger door, if only wd40 was the answer
