Im looking at buying a car that has insurance notified CAT D. The damage was an electrical fault in the interior which damaged the seats etc. The damage has been repaired. The salesman has assured me that CAT D wont increase my quote etc but Im unsure. I can't really do 2 quotes, one declaring CAT D and one not cause then they will know so I thought id see if you guys could answer through your own past experiences etc.

Some insurance companies will outright decline a previous total loss vehicle. If you read the small print of the policy documents on some of the mainstream companies it will state it in there to.
We can cover a Cat D car that has been repaired providing it has been MOT since the repair.
If you wanted me to provide you a with a quote drop me a PM with you contact number and a desired time i can give you a call personally and run a quick price.
It will only take a couple of minutes to run a quote and then you will at least have an idea of what to expect.
We offer the GTI Forum as discount. Plus if you can limit the annual miles to below 7500 it can qualify you for even more of a reduced rate.
Best Regards

You can get a cat D for anything these days!
Really dont think you need to tell them...ive never been asked the question.
Do bear in mind the vehicle will be worth less than your average one of similar spec though.

Only the value is really effected, insurers will pay our less for a previously written off vehicle.
