Title: New GiT16 , heater issues emmmissions issue

Hey guys

Ive just bought a high mileage 16v gti on a p reg.

144k. Its failed the mot on the emmissions and the heater doesnt work, now the previous owner removed the relay, and told me it was because it wasnt working, is there a known issue about either of these on the mk3?

Mk3's do have issues with leaking heater matrices.

 thats not high miles mate, mines on 172  000 and ive seen alot higher ,my car just passed mot and emissions are super low as allways ,get it scanned for fault codes your lamba may be faulty,possible temp sensor issue or cat is dead
