Right I've had a nightmare with my car over the last few weeks, and the most recent one was the flywheel. Which has definitely had better days, so I bought a conversion kit and now I can't get the flywheel off! I've managed to get 3 bolts off but the last ones are just impossible and now are slightly rounded off :o :( I'm really hoping there's another way to tackle them? As trying to undo them isn't really a option now. Any help is really appreciated. Thanks Simon

is it a dual mass flywheel thats fittted currently? if so has it like seazied in a possition so you cant get fully on the bolts? what kind of bolt is it? multi spline type or a normal type?
-
Yes mate its the dual mass that's on atm, and I can move the plate slightly but I can't get fully on the bolts no... And I would say its a multi spline one as its weird looking lol.
-
could you get a picture? :) ive not removed a flywheel on a 1.8t but have on the diesels and i had to grind one off once which was.... intresting :)
-
Yeah ill get a pic in a little while mate. Oh god I can imagine lol!

Smash a 6sided socket over the bolt in question? I did this to a headbolt that wouldnt budge and molegrips were useless too

Buy a set of Irwin bolt grippers, I have lost count of the times these things have saved the day with rounded bolts.
They grip on the roundest of bolts, Infact I have used them to remove mcgard locking wheel nuts in the past.
These are the ones. although I bought mine from machine mart and have the full set

Can you just get them from halfords and places like that? Someone else just said to get some of them and as I'm running out of options its gna be worth a try lol. Thanks
-
Just spotted the link :)

Halfords do them iirc, MachineMart do aswell,
Just make sure the correct size is in the kit as there is 2 kits covering various sizes.

I just had another look and I don't think there's even room to get anything over the top of the bolts tbh, because of the plate on the front of the flywheel that covers the bolts, all I have are the holes. :s
