Morning all,
my first post on the mk6 forum. I trade in my mk5 gti tommorrow for a mk6 gti (unfortunately not a 62 plate but an 11 plate)
Quick question it has headlamp washers but not heated (cloth) seats or xenons, so it can't have the winter pack was this part of an option pack or just standard??
-
I think I remember someone else saying they had a bumper skin with the washer cut-outs but no Winter Pack or Xenons...so maybe there was a batch produced that way?
Do the headlight washers actually work?
Or is it possible it's just the cut-outs & blanks are there?
-
Interesting... Good old vw putting something there that doesn't work  will find out tommorrow, at least if they don't work they won't freeze and stick out (oo er missus) in the cold weather!!
-
If it hasn't got heated seats, I'd suggest you will not have washers, which is good. Much better than having screenwash all over your bonnet.
-
Yeah nothing worse especially if you have just cleaned the car!!
Do the headlamp washers not only work when the headlights are on?

They do...but if you have adaptive Xenons without fairy lights, the headlights are on all the time as DRLs...so every 4th wash of the windscreen...foamy front wings!

Ah right. I thought you could do the old trick of just putting it on to the sidelights and skooshing.
-
I have heated leather seats and I also have the cut outs in my bumper for the washers but dont have xenons am I right in thinking that if I retrofit the Xenons with the required AFS module ect that the bumper washers will work...? as I have read that if you have heated seats the bumper washer are installed into the bumper
-
MKviKen has the cutouts in his bumper too but no washers according to VCDS so im guessing maybe they have gone to one bumper skin and just used blanks.
-
All GTI/D bumpers have the cutouts with blanks in, but you only get washers if you specify them as part of the winter pack or with xenons.
As for retro fitting xenons, I've fitted W8 bi-xenons to my Passat without washers or auto levellers, in fact no levellers at all, and it has passed 2 MOTs. Generally if your xenons don't look aftermarket, you can get away with them.

Oh, so I will have to also fit the washers
Does anyone know of this being done? Where to buy, part numbers, cost ect...as I wud like the full setup...

I don't get all the "damn, no washers" talk.
Buy new xenon headlights, fit them, look cool, see where you are going at night, pass your MOT's as the tester won't notice, then just before you sell the car, swap them back for your halogens and sell them to get your money back.

Good point, I just might do that...
