Im guessing a very easy one but I'm a little confused. The hand book says use G12 and it is purple in colour, but I have a red/pink colour colour in mine. What one should I be using and where's best to buy it? Only need a little as its just a quick top up.
Thanks and sorry for being a complete fool.

You need VW G12+ antifreeze.
If you just need a little for top up then it's ok to just use water as a small dilution will not significantly affect the freezing point of the mixture.

Ok awesome, is that pink or purple in colour and would somewhere like Halfords sell it? Don't you need some sort of special distilled water?

Get the coolant from VW, it's pink in colour and sold in 1.5l bottles.
You can use distilled water but I've always used tap water in the past.

Quick question just been to the stealers and they say G12 pink/red coolant is no more it's G13 purple only now. They also said G12 will mix with G13 no problems. So question is do you think this is true? I have the pink/red coolant in there at the moment but need to top it up. Do you think it will be safe to top up with the G13 purple?

According to VW in Westbury, Wilts, you can use a universal antifreeze. In fact they suggested it as it is cheaper than the VW branded stuff :undecided:
I've used this since I owned I've the car and had no problems...

Sits at a healthy 80-90c. Warm up time usually around 1.5-2 miles. Never looses coolant or needs topping up. No corrosion or brittle pipes.
