Please post the wiring diagram of the remote locking box and tell me which wire you've connected to which one on your Golf.
My guess would be that you've connected something up wrong or the diodes have fired through.

Followed this tutorial mate, did it twice on the old golf and had no issues with it, just this one - Kempie.

Ah, you've put it over the central electrics (done that myself today).
I am guessing you've partly unplugged something from the back of your central electrics.
The plug for the indicator should be in the lower row, second or third from the right (it's a red one, shorter than the ones next to it).
The plugs are held in by a push clip on the outside and a locking rail in the middle of the central electrics (you can pull it out to open). Would recommend to take the central electrics off, undo the rail in the middle and push all connectors well in then lock and try.

Well, tell him he's not alone!
Put my remote in Saturday, connected wires up according to Haynes wiring diagram and the remote manual....
Just freakin' Haynes got the colours wrong, instead of the ignition +12V I wired up the bottom stock micro switch for the lock with the result that it unlocked by itself immediately after locking.... Took me a night's sleep until I finally realised what I'd done
Now I know not to trust the Haynes' and only look in there after I'm done with the job :nerd:
So for who-ever has this issue if you have a mk3: the ignition 12v line in the central locking loom in yellow-green not yellow-red (or red-yellow which is the micro switch for the 'closed' position.
