What are your thoughts, spoiler on or off?? I have recently removed it as it is quite faded and quite like
the look. Not sure to get new one from VW or vinal wrap mine and stick it bk on.
-
Give it a flick over with matte black, if it looks sh!te the wrap it.
You will need to get some little grommets to fill the holes left if you haven't already, these'll do!

Cheers for that, already have them on thanks. Just dont know whether to leave it or not. The wrap would look good mind.

If you have the plastic arches on then spoiler on.
Otherwise looks much better without
-
Yeah i have the plastic arches, jst a pain as my spoiler is shot so will have to buy new one. Plus a
common fault with these is that the plasic fades a lot so will still have to get it wrapped. Looking at £45
for new spoiler and £40 to be wrapped.

Get some autoglym bumper care and put 3/4 coats on. Be black for ages. Mine was grey

Give it a quick go over with some matte black before buying a new one, it might look ok!

Put it back on or don't come crying when the overwhelming power makes the rear end go all light and puts you in a hedge.......VW engineers know best....

My vr6 never had one.
Also at high speed it will push back down and lift the front drive wheels.
That spoiler does nothing to the aerodynamics

I is just taking the peeeeeees...

Yeah but his is a 16v which is a million times faster ...

From what i understand of these spoilers is that it does nothing but create a dirt attracting turbulence around the rear end of the vehicle.

It probably does actually...
It won't add downforce...but will give a distinct point for the air over the roof to break, and not cause lift...so it probably does something.
Probably.
Possibly... :lipsrsealed:

So removing would help keep the rear screen cleaner, as i've just de-wipered this is of interest to me.

Yup.
I'd expect so.
Have you never noticed the vortices that come off the corners of the rear spoiler on a damp day, or the crud that gets dragged up and onto the rear screen as a result?
-
Yep and it's worse since lowering too.
-
Its just for a good look, nothing else. Wrapping it would be cheaper then having it painted
-
Maguires tyre gel. Restors any plastic bac to black. Used it on plenty of very faded spoilers even ones that had faded so bad they were almost white and after a few wipes they are sorted.
-
i sprayed mine with black bumper paint from halfords, looked good as new!
-
Thank u for all ur advise. I have some of that tyre gell in garage. That paint sounds good too. Jst thought wrapping would be diff

It is about the same with or without the spoiler tbh.
-
Got Halfords bumper paint today
-
Post up the results, I'd be interested to see!
-
Yes I will mate. Only cost £6 for the can and after a couple coats it looks like new. Still got a few more to do.

I've just sorted the greying plastics everywhere on mine, spoiler included! I bought a cheap heat gun from eBay, went over it all over the last 2 evenings, it's now all black. Looks great! Don't mess about with paint and back to black products.
-
I think the heatgun treatment fades over time tho.
