after a few months of driving (i do a couple hundred miles a week).
my catch can has only caught a few drops. why is this? i'm sure it's all fitted correctly. it is a cheap ebay one though :lipsrsealed:
would the height of where the catch can is attached to affect this?
-
Wheres your catch can placed?
I have an ebay special and it catchs fine. I have nothing in the can either its completly hollow.
Mine is mounted above between the inlet manifold and radiator.
-
to the left of the battery, behind the headlamp. it's quite high up though as it pretty much sits on top of one of the radiator hoses
-
Im not catching overly much atm, ive put it down to the warm weather weve been recieving haha
-
fitted it absolutely ages ago though!
warm? are you from the UK?

Don't a fist full of wire wool in there slow down the air flow and catch the vapours better?
-
Im always worried about putting wire wool in mine to be honest as I wouldnt want it being picked up through my turbo.
-
Someone suggested a while ago, fitting part of a cheese grater in the to slow down the movement but have no possibility of being sucked up, possibly Topher. Genius.
-
what about a small mesh you'd find on a baking sivv? cut a section out to fit and Bobs your uncle

Anything along the cheese grater idea should work.
Enough to slow down the vapour, big enough to never get sucked up.
Alternatively, don't be tight and buy a Saiko
-
I'd be quite happy to purchase one, but then, it's not actually "broken" so to me, I don't see the point of replacing it just yet :smug:
-
mine catches quite a lot every few weeks i have to empty it as it gets quite full infact its starting to piss me off now how often it needs emptying
-
Believe Awesome GTI do one, with stuff inside it, for roughly the same price and obviously no hassle trying to import the Saiko one..

Would a couple of scouring pads stuffed in there work?
-
maybe the thicker constructed ones similar to these would be ok

Scouring pads and wire wool were both advised against previously as there is the possibility that they could break down and end up going round your turbo.
You don't want this to happen.

mmmm turbo soup...
