Title: MK4 2.0 GTI radio problems
Post by: PaulGTI on 05 July 2005, 20:39
Hi guys! recently I have been having problems with my CD system in my car.  The problem is that on occasions when I turn the car on I have a lack of sound although the radio appears to be operating as the display is still present.  The sound reappears when the system is turned off and on again!  This is starting to get annoying as you may expect! Does anyone have any ideas to what the problem may be? Many thanks!!!

Sounds like I'll have to invest in a new unit.  The problem only occurs on occasions so don't know if it is even worth the change.... does anyone have an idea what the VW tape deck unit costs retail?

not under warranty then ? if it isnt.. wouldnt bother with standard vw equipment unless you get it on the cheap off ebay. you could get an aftermarket one cheaper, and better than a new one from vw.

if i can remember correctly there is a setting in the menu to set the volume of the radio when it comes on... it should say somewhere in the handbook.  :undecided:

Thanks for the help. Its not a problem with the settings as it only happens from time to time however since I posted this problem it hasnt happened! (touch wood). I've had two Mk4's and I have to say the electrics in general are suspect! Anyone agree?
