Title: checking mk4 golf top mounts

i wanna check my tops mounts as i have a clicking noise and people have said cvjoint replaced that , someone said wheel bearing and someone said top mount, wheel bearing i have done the usual and cant find anything to now im looking at top mounts .. i found the guide to replace them but cant really find something to help check them. i dont really wanna strip them down incase doing so breaks them or something else.

How about taking it to a garage for them to diagnose then fix the fault yourself? My local doesn't charge for a quick look at it on the ramps.
