Title: ED35/Golf R/ Roc R engine cover
Post by: mjp on 27 August 2012, 06:45
Customised Audi TTS engine cover with Audi R8 oil and water bottle cap. Thinking of plastidipping the windscreen water bottle cap. Thoughts?

Very nice mate and I would definitely do the washer bottle cap. Just one comment though, I'm pretty sure that unless you change the intake this engine cover won't fit a 35 as the stock one is attached to the original cover? I'm happy to be proven wrong. The MAF sensor is also attached to the engine cover.

I have an ITG intake. If you change the intake the stock cover will not work.

Yeah, tell me about it. You can however change the front section for a more cosmetic look I.e. carbonio carbon fibre intake.

I'm liking the Audi cover! Did it have the Audi rings on before? I'm a big fan of the R8 caps as well but it's a shame there isn't a matching washer cap, i've actually been looking at the Forge ones like Ginge but the black ones cos you can get caps for everything.

Looks good but there's to much black going on in that bay for my liking, needs something to break it up tbh...

Daft question, do the engine covers just pull off?

Believe so mate, I just nipped down to the dealer and he swapped mine over for me in two minutes. Do a YouTube search mate as there were a few on there when I was looking.

Not sure about ed35 as it may have breather pipes attached but the GTI one just pulls off.

The Ed30/35 has stuff attached.

@Ginge, do the Forge caps fit over the standard caps or are they replacements like the R8 ones?

Hi, they fit over the stock ones. They then are tightened by little grub screws. The washer bottle one is a complete replacement. I'm happy with them and got a deal from Forge direct, £70 for the oil, coolant and washer bottle cap.

Thanks guys, I like the Forge water bottle cap and I have sent an email to Forge. I prefer the understated look and is the reason why I left the cover black. I have removed the Audi logo from the cover.
