Title: question about spacers...
Post by: vw_golf_nutter on 26 August 2012, 18:07
i want to keep my original alloys and plan to lower the car eventually but think the wheels need to come out a bit to fit the arches better.
what size spacers would i be looking for so i can safely use the original bolts? or do i have to buy new bolts? if so what size do i look for?
thanks

Any spacer bigger then5mm will need bigger bolts. Get hubcentric spacers as ther safer

Get it lowered and then get the measurements, at least hubcentric spacers and extended wheel bolts are easy to get hold of for these cars!

Cant get hubcentric spacers under 10mm so just get a good set of 5mm spacers.

I would never run a spacer that is not hubcentric, they are garbage and should not be allowed as they put extra load on the wheel bolts ,plus cause unwanted wheel wobble.

Ok you can't get, because they can't make hubcentric spacers under 10mm!

I would love to be proved wrong. Post a link.

5mm is worth it. I have them on the back. I also have 14mm hubcentric spacers on the front.

They look pretty flat to me. Hubcentric spacer will have a lip on it to centre the wheel. They don't have that.
