Title: i love my mk3 but!!!
Post by: search on 25 August 2012, 17:04
i feel a 1.4 just isn't cutting it, so what would be considered an upgrade? do i jump in the deep end for a vr6 or do i go for a gti? if so what ones are better to own! im not rich so a vr6 would take longer to save up for lol.

I know where there is a very tidy 4 door 16v in dragon green for £1250.

Sell up and get a gti 16v

Don't do a swap as its more work than putting a 1.8t in a gti

16v for sure. VR6 is not a lot quicker and will cost more to insure and run, plus if you do decide to go 1.8t (which seems to be what everyone and their mother is doing atm) it will be easier going from a 16v

16v is till not enough to rape a Saxo, more bang for your buck out there if fast is what you want
G3's are about looking good unless you have the money to run a VR or converted GTI, in that context any of the sports () models are fine.
Its about what you can afford and if you can find a solid shell

16v is till not enough to rape a Saxo

I've raped a fair few saxo's around my area, by a country mile.

My Saxo vts was as fast as my 16v golf up to 120 then the golf would have the legs.
Saxo was better in the bends too.

Hate to say but a saxo vts should be quicker on back roads as I could drive mine faster on b roads.

Vtr's are sh!te just like the 8v  :lipsrsealed:

I own a mk3 gti 8v. A mk3 vr6 and a e39 528i.

I bought it because it is a good base to put a 2.8 24v engine in

Plus I've crammed my 8v and still think its too slow to be a gti

So why don't you just sell the 8v?
