Title: How do i remove engine cover
Post by: protective daddy on 25 August 2012, 12:29
Morning all,

I have just bought myself a Golf GTI 1.8T 1999.

This is suppose to have the following:

Induction kit
Dump Valve
Re-mapped to over 200bhp

And i have to say, even though my previous was a 1998 1.6se that it drives amazingly.

Now my problem is at the front of the engine there is a small hose that has a hole in it that is expelling air, I need to remove the top engine cover and that bit that wraps aroung the front, anyone guide me, i assume i undo those big plastic screw things, but i dont want to do anything until confirmed, as i do not want anything to snap etc.

Hi ,is it a AGU engine. Must be for that year, like mine. It will be about 180 + bhp. Also what DV you got and IK they could lose power if there ,how can i say it  cheap. Is you IK sucking in hot air from your engine. Is your DV a blow off one ?

Not got a clue what engine - I am a complete noob to gti's.

Looking to learn everything I can, bought it yesterday.

I'm not even sure what the dv looks like, but I have a purple shiny thing turn in top right corner which I assume is the dv.

Lad I bought it off said it has been tested and showing 218bhp, but all I can go off is its sh!t of a shovel quick, throws my missus back in her seat to the point she felt like throwing up when we'd had a trip out in it yesterday.

I have had spent all my time trying find out what this hose is that I had a leak from, turns out to be a breather pipe from underneath of inlet manifold.

Not got a clue what else your on about, give me some more info or I'm here for your teaching, i'll take some picks from engine bay tomoz and post.
