The tracking MUST only be set by adjusting the length of the right hand track rod. The length of the left hand track rod is set with the track rod removed from the car and MUST NOT be altered in any circumstances. If the company adjusting your tracking tries to touch the left track rod, small their legs. If it has already been disturbed, it will have to be removed from the car and carefully set up on the bench.
The camber for a VR6 is - 0° 40′ ± 20′ ( ′ = minutes so 40 minutes negative) and the tracking 0° or parallel. The extremely important detail is that the left track rod must be set to a specific measurement of 406-mm and then not altered once in the car, any adjustment being necessary is made on the right hand track rod end.

Is it true? Never heard this before. I'm pretty sure garages don't do that when replacing track rods? If so I better get my spanner out quick before getting alignment done!

I checked haynes but it doesn't mention anything. I think I'm going to take the boot off then and measure up.
-
let us know what you find.... (and exactly where you measure from and to)
-
Will do. Probably won't be till mid next week as I'm working flat out till then.

that said, it doesn't say why its wrong or what problems it causes. I suspect none, bar full lock left/right would be wrong.
Personally - I am not panic'ing yet....

I can't see a problem either but there must be a reason as to why.
