Title: High Cholesterol Anyone?
Post by: Adam88 on 20 August 2012, 17:36
My doctor just called me to tell me my cholesterol is high, I was about to out and get some burgers with the mates.

Funny thing, I have been off and on diets trying to lose my belly fat so I can avoid this stuff when I am older.

I am 24. Go to gym regularly and have a body fat of like 6%. So I am confused.

Any of you have this problem

Just go and get burgers, they're awesome.

Body fat and cholesterol isn't always necessarily linked. Body fat can be stored from carbohydrates and startchy foods, where cholesterol is accumulated from saturated fats.

Enjoy your burger with your mates, but for the rest of the week eat more fish and veg and lay off cakes and so much red meat.

I have the same problem, my body doesn't produce enough tryclycerin which helps break down fat in the blood. I have to take a tablet daily which is a fenofibrate. My levels are below average now which is good.
I keep fit and watch my diet also, its something I have no control over and have to take the tablets for life.
Speak to your doctor about it properly.

I didn't even speak to my doctor yet.

My dermatologist called me to warn me. I will go see one tomorrow.

Maybe God is telling me I need a 6 pack for summer so he gave me high cholesterol!

f**king christ. I hope mine is ok, your 'life style' sounds similar to mine.

How did your Dr find out, were you due a blood test or did you start having some sort of side affect?

The answer to why you get high cholesterol or the answer to cure it, and why the angry face?

alot of it is genetic. I know someone who has super high cholestrol but is a proper gym rat and eats stupidly healthy.

I am the total opposite and have normal cholesterol/bordering on the low.

Now that you know you have high cholesterol just bear that in mind when choosing what you eat.

Yeah I was having a problem with my skin and he needed to check my blood before giving me the solution.

I hate grape fruit!!

The thing with the belly is that, I had a beerish belly like a tiny one (only way to describe it, I don't consume any alcohol) but I wanted to lose it because having a belly when you are older is very unheathly, the risk of heart disease and diabetes increase. I went on a strict diet like, no soda, no chocolate, no crisps, no bread. Lost most of the belly. Then exams started and I needed sugar and snacks. Now I still have some and I am ok with what I have now, last week Tuesday I decided to do this diet again too avoid this but irony. I suppose its genetics.

You can have high cholesterol and never have a heart attack or stroke and you can have high cholesterol and keel over tomorrow. Depends on HDL and LDL levels. If raised LDL, more likely to be familial hypercholesteraemia and needs specialist input.

Well I'm a fat cnut. 20 stoner and a bmi of 25. But my diet is good, plenty of oats, raisins, nuts, oily fish, chicken, skimmed milk, fresh veg etc.... But have never been content with the look of my body (vane I know)

I consume hardly any carbs and limited sat fats. My cholesterol is low (2.6)

My step dad is a skinny cnut. 9 stoner and a bmi of probably -25. His diet is sh!t, cheese, marmite, houmous, ice cream and then more cheese on top.....he's happy with the way his body looks!

He consumes only sat fats and carbs. Next to no monos or polys, no omega 3, no fruit or veg, no nothing! His cholesterol is 7.2

Diet and exercise my friend and eating the right foods. Or simvastatin if you're lazy like my step dad. Unfortunately high cholesterol if hereditary, low cholesterol isn't
