hi there
can some one tell me how to get the windows to work with the fob thanks
-
Vagcom  maybe tacho

VDS Pro and a very old laptop with serial port connections.
You can buy a device that plugs into the OBD port which reprograms the central convenience module adding fob control - KWP1000?
Surely will be someone on here locally with the software who could do it for beer monies

If you buy a vag-com cable off ebay you can use this guide..

Good find
Will give this a try later on

I could be wrong, but I think it depends on the mk4 and key?
I can only make my windows go up/down by putting the key into the lock and turning. It doesn't work via the buttons. Mines an early '99 GTI.
-
It's down to the CCM by the look of it. Seems it works on the later versions and not the early ones. My aftermarket alarm does the windows on the button anyways. Might try it on Briceys car lol

Mines a 2001 Aum and mine does the windows with the key not the fob
-
If you've got a VAG COM cable give it a go and report back

All mk4 gtis do this. The point is the software should make this work via the fob. :nerd:

where can one find their ccm?
-
It can be done on all MK4 Golfs as long as they have leccy windows :afro:
The software in the link when used in free mode will ony do the later 1C0 959 799 CCM as found in immo3 cars. If you need to do the earlier 1J0 959 799 AH immo2 CCM then you need to purchase the full version.
Or use VDS pro and edit the HEX values of the CCM manually :afro:
1J0 959 799 AH (UK Spec)

Take the covers off under the steering wheel and look up past the column behind the fuse box and it is mounted to a bracket, just a plain black box with two or three multi plugs going in to it :afro:

I might have to obtain a copy...:afro:
