basically my old faithful laptop has died
Question is do i go for an android tablet, ipad or laptop? Its my birthday in a couple of weeks and wifey has offered to buy me an ipad.
Im on holiday in florida at the mo and the cheapest ipad 3 is $399 plus tax at walmart, i know a yanke laptop is no good because of the keyboard but i cannot decide :undecided: ipad, android tab or laptop?
also found these for $119 + tax.

Get an Asus Transformer Infinity pre-ordered and a USB HD to go with it. If you really think a tablet can replace your laptop then the Transformer at least allows you to hedge your bets.
I supervised the purchase of a Transformer Prime recently and it is an excellent device as far as I'm concerned.

Tablets are great for mooching around on the net face book etc etc and for looking street cred with the kids, they suck with heavy applications.
If all you do is surf and view while sitting outside Cafe Nero  then a tablet is fine, if you need power and dexterity then get a latop.
DH is right on the money with the Asus, the Ipad is over rated and over priced as its apple.

The Galaxy Note 10.1 looks interesting

Having has a Transformer and an iPad, I'd say get a Laptop.
However, if you really want a tablet, I agree the newer Asus offerings could definitely be worth a butchers.

Thanks for the replies lads, i've gone with the google nexus 7, (manufactured by ASUS) seems good for what i want, quite quick too. Cannot use it yet though, wife has brought it for my b'day . but mother inlaw is with us in florida and she has brought one too  so im playing with that one.
It has good specs, quad core processor, 16GB HDD 7inch screen etc, works out at £159 with the exchange rate of that day.

Let us know how you get on with it

Just an update on this nexus 7,
I'm still impressed! Its quick, very quick, you touch the screen and it does what you tell it immediately.
The only thing I can compare it to though is my sh!te iPhone 3gs that just looks at me whilst deciding what to do!
If you want an android you won't be dissapointed with one of these
