been going through all my old photos of my mk1s, mk2s, mk3s, and various other veedubs and non veedubs... i must of had about 14 mk1 golfs that i picked up for about £200 each! if only i had of kept them and stashed them up somewhere, i would be sitting on a gold mine now!
if you could have 1 car back that you previously owned which one would it be?
This is my choice

It wasnt the cleanest or best looked after example I have owned, in fact it was quite ropey (despite being photogenic) but it was definately the most fun. It had the centre box cut out and a straight through pipe welded in which gave it a beautiful deep roar, i never had the stereo on because the sound of the car was gorgeous. I had a Seat Cordoba gearbox put in which gave it slightly better top end, it was lowered about 60mm and was generally a trouble free fun GTi to own. I should never have sold it!

one picture - two cars - regret both :lipsrsealed:

erm i had a nissan sunny gtir imported from japan (pulsar model) i'd love that again was so much fun like a shoe box with a 2.0 16v turbo engine and 4x4. or my old nova with the 2.016v engine conversion that was fun too. only had 2 vw's before my current gti a mk1 and mk2 golf diesel and i'd not want either back
-
does it have to be a vw :undecided:
-
my god a Nova!! they were so popular 10yrs ago when i was first driving, literally every boy racer had the SR or the GTE was it? you dont see them at all anymore, they were probably all crashed or ragged to death!

i had a 1.3 sr then the gte with a gsi bodykit and the 2.016v engine in oh it was sex at the time ha ha. my mate still has one with a 2.0 16v turbo lump out of a calibra in. its crazy quick too

My Mk2 GTi 8v early '90 spec big bumper, registered August '89 on fat steels, no central locking or electric windows but hell did it go. Brother in law had a Mk3 Orion (mk5 Escort) with RS2000 bodywork and a 175bhp Fiesta turbo lump and my standard GTi was as quick

My best car has to be my mk2 Astra gte man that car could shift didgi dash which was nice aswell.
Didn't regret selling it though as it was like driving a brick it was that low and on mimm alloys.
Also regreted selling my mk1 cab as I stood there money in hand watching it being wragged down the road by its new owner...... Ho well I thought no more wet arse when it rains....and the feeling of regret soon passed

The most reliable car I have owned so far. It was my daily driver and the one I had the most fun in.

I bet it was originally sold locally, there are a couple of people on here who live quite near to the people that bought their old vehicle, often they end up wanting it back...

My black rover sd1 vanden plas Efi reg no A61CNP, if anyone ever sees it let me know and one of my kidneys will be on ebay..

antogoof- how did u find it??
yeah sorry bud for the late reply, it was on pistonheads and i was just browsing, im always on the lookout for a bbm and the first thing i noticed was the colour, then the reg. then i nearly jumped out of my chair! it was only 20 miles away from me, so i sold my other mk2 to my brother and went and got it.
i wasnt really looking for a car though and i couldnt really afford it, so i had to be a bit savvy with it, ive gotta sell bits off it to try and make some money back cause the missus was not happy
stroke of luck that i found it really, i had to sell it when the old motor went pop and i lost my job, that was in 2006, but i was hooked and i swore id have another blue, never thought it would be the same car tho!
-
If I could have an old car back, it would be either my 1990 MK2 GTi 16v (better than an 8v slow boat ) or my 1998 Escort GTi 16v, which I prefer over my MK4.

Blasphemy
Although I know they weren't bad cars to drive, I was never happy about an Escort wearing a GTI badge. Luckily it didn't hang around too long and Ford stuck to their own names again.

I do miss my mini seven. Great 2nd car.

Cant find a pic of my old valver, but I think that was probably my all time favourite.
Or perhaps this just for its character:

This was my solid mk3 that Ian Birchs run Dubsport sorted for me and before he sold the business on. Great car in the twisties but still slow the rest of the time. No rot 96,000 on the clock and was still super tight and was wrote off within a year of selling it.
My MK5 that was sold to buy a camper that never materialised and still looking out for a van to convert :lipsrsealed:
And then. This. Best NA car I've ever driven that's cheap to buy insure and fuel.
