'Living' in the east end of London for the next month or so, and I am thoroughly enjoying the bars which it has to offer.
I have only ventured as far as Embankment/Covent Gardens/Kentish town and a few other places...Can anyone recommend some good places to have a few beers?!
I can get ANYWHERE in London for free so please give me some good places to go visit for the day/evening!

i usually go to brick lane for curry after visiting the titty bars down on shoreditch
-
Always do a couple of pubs/bars in Camden when we go up
-
Check out the brewdog bar in Camden.
-
Upper Street in Islington is nice
Shoreditch/Hoxton is good
-
Shoreditch and Hoxton are a winner if you're in the east. Although Soho has some good live music venues and restaurants too.
-
Shoreditch for some cool bars, brick lane for bagels
Spitalfields market (on Sundays) is great too! Notting Hill is great if the weather is nice

For me covent garden is abit to touristy, never knew shorditch had any nightlife or titty bars even though I worked down there for a few months, so where is this stuff?
As I discovered the other week, do not go cable
Heard good things about oxford and regent street for the more sophisticated birds.

Sophisticated birds eh...That isn't my game :lipsrsealed:  Plus I don't have the 100k in the bank to be able to get them to 'come back to my place' :lipsrsealed:
Will try out these places before I go. I believe I have been to Brick lane before...Salted pork, mmmmmm
-
sophisticated birds take you back to their place or can afford hotels
My mates like going faversham, but we missed out on Leicester square this weekend as that was buzzing with the Olympics. Two mates went Leicester sq and ended up sleeping in a bush and me and my mates ended up south of the river in cable

There's nightlife in Faversham? Surely Canterbury is a much better night out and only a few miles away
-
I meant Farringdon, I blame the misses for faversham as we took the little one to the farm that way
What's Canterbury like for nightlife especially with all the uni's around?

Edinboro Castle in Camden Town (towards regents park) has got a proper nice beer garden, n they get the barbie going whenever the weather is good!
-
Try the meat rack down the Dilly

lol that makes more sense. Well it's okay, lots of people out as it's a uni town. But don't expect good clubs or exciting music venues. If you want good pubs though, then I recommend trying it.

Any of the bars up Old Compton street offer a good night out.
-
I got a week off at the mo!
As soon as I am back I will be visiting town on few school nights to fit all these places in.
Cheers!

And you can get a blowie for twenty donks, if you can find a girl that's drunk enough :smug:

i love Camdon

Clapham high street is also a great night out, loads of bars and clubs. Infernos is a proper cheesy night out but its a great laugh (random fact, thats the club they filmed The Inbetweeners film in).
Soho also has plenty of good places (also loads of great restaurants). Just keep an eye out for the gay clubs (Im assuming that isnt your scene? ;)) and dodgy alleys (unless you are into that).
To echo what others have said Camden is a cracking night out. Covent Garden also loads of pubs and bars but is pricey as its tourist central, as most places in "central" London like Leicester Square, you will be robbed blind. I went out for a meal with the Mrs and some of her mates the other night, we got to Leicester Square early so went to the pub opposite the tube station for a quick drink. A large white wine and a pint of Stella Black . . . .£11.40.
Or if in doubt head to Croydon :D

Cheers Alan. Got 3 weeks back there so will try and visit it.
I am heading to Notting hill carnival on Sunday with some friends, we are all going Union flag fancy dress
Any one experience of this 'street' party?

Make sure you wear your stab proof vest under your flag ;)
