Title: History lesson!
Post by: search on 14 August 2012, 17:00
ok some of you may already know this and well i was just shocked when i read it but apparently Polo 6n and  Seat Ibiza Mk2 are actually golf mk3s in around about way. so i'm wondering other than the seats what else can be changed from each other these models with out any modification or very little?

ie bumper? bonnets? dials? dash? door cards? etc etc?

Not sure on the 6n as I don't know enough about them, but the Mk2 ibiza is the same as a golf underneath. Same suspension components, same brakes, same engine and gearbox, same chassis. The only thing that changes is the bodywork and badges.

the 6n/ibiza does use the golf mk3 floor pan and some suspension bits... but that's about where it ends!

Not sure on a lot of the parts but I know some and its worth finding out as they are usually cheaper at the seat dealer than the vw one  :wink:

From the Ibiza Cupra Sport 16v days...I seem to recall:
Rear beam = Polo
Front Arms = Mk2
Front Subframe = Mk3
Gearbox = Mk3 but modified to run cable clutch
Brakes = Mk2/G60
