Can anyone tell me how the hell you get at the 2 bolts to get the thermostat out???
For such a simple job, I don't really want to pay a garage to have to do it!!!
Any advise appreciated!!!
-
think you have to move the power steering pump out of the way on digi 8v's
-
sorry should have said, its a 16v!
-
Someone must have an idea/way to get the 'stat out without moving PS pump and alternator!!!
Effing stupid of VW to put the 'stat here when there is so much work involved in changing it!!
Anyone???
-
think thats basically it mate. alternator and PAS pump moved out of the way :undecided:
missions
-
F***ing b******!!
How easy is it then to do while lying on your back???
Will maybe get some ramps, and have a go nest weekend- I imagine it would cost a bit too much to get a garage to do it!
ta anyhow!
-
mate, just give it a go, if it all goes tits up then you can pay to have it done. i always think its worth having a go at things!
-
yeh your right, whats the worst that can happen??
The garage I use is less the 100 yards away if I f*** things up!!
How long do you think it should take???
Will report back when its done!!
-
depends how handy you are with a spanner, soak everything in wd40 for as long as possible before you start then it shouldn't take long. i've done a thermostat in about ten minutes.....
-
10 mins on a valver with pas???
it will take me that to get it up on the ramps!!!
confident enough to have a go at anything really - just don;t want a dead car stuck on my old mans drive - don't think he'd appreciate it!!!
