Title: Any idea what this noise is?

Ignore the squeaking, that's the spanner being used to turn the wheel.  Any suggestions on the cause of the grinding?

My friend thinks the bearings have gone, I'm thinking it could be grit in the brakes.  Plan is to strip the brake down tomorrow night and see if it still makes the noise or not.  Any better suggestions, or a good course of action?

I reckon it's the dust shield behind the disc.

Reckon somethings got in between them?  I had that happen on the Golf last year.

Basically, I don't think it's the bearings.  I want my mate to fix it to avoid me having to waste £20 in petrol going there and back, only to find there was some grit somewhere in the brakes!

Don't think anything is lodged, although it's a possibility. I just think the dust shield may have bent and is now rubbing. Deffo sounds like metal rubbing on metal to me.

I'd have a look at the other side of the disc, and the lip of the disc could be huge given that you've got a pretty large unworn area on the outside of the disc.

Oh and moving to the right area.
