If you care about the waters you swim/surf in then you should sign this petition.

Signed it last week
Was going to post it on here but didn't think there would be much repsonse.

Really everybody that uses the sea for any recreational use should sign it.
You Jersey boys should kick up a real stink coz your Government keep putting up full treatment, unlike Guernsey which has full treatment with UV.
Also what people dont realise is this - during heavy rain joint Storm/Foul water outfalls can discharge raw sewage into the sea!

Everyone, not just those that use the sea, should sign an official government e-petition for this, not a random website petition that'll not get noticed.

indeed, I'm not a surfer but I still care about our waters
-
Random????
SAS is THE biggest achiever in getting cleaner seas in this country!
Major success here with the British Government and in Europe by getting the laws and regulations tightened.
Their success is seen as a yardstick in the Global arena.
If you think thats random Jay I think you need a brain transplant!

Agreed.
Signed as a keen but lapsed surfer.

Calm down Mr Tetchy. How was I to know that? first time I've heard of them and we're not all born with all the knowledge in the world like you clearly were

Any real surfer should know about SAS!
If you dont you aint a real surfer!
-
[Len Logic]Ergo - Don't bother signing it if you aren't a "REAL" surfer and aware of who Surfers Against Sewage are.
So Nick, I suggest you go and remove your signature from the form. [/Len Logic]

I do have an MSA license and I have competed in some time trials. So not like proper wheel to wheel racing but near enough.

So what is your membership number then Alex?
-
I'm not a "real" surfer, or any kind of surfer thus do not have or need a membership number.
I don't have long enough nails to hold on tightly enough anyway.
-
I better ask for my signature to be removed, I'm obviously not a real surfer because I don't know who the f@ck the SAS were - I actually thought the SAS were an elite British armed forces unit, not some surfer dudes.
Len logic != true.

:lipsrsealed:
Damn!
Alright I will comment!
"Surfer dudes"
Well yes it did start out like that back in 1990/1991 as a group of surfers who got together in Cornwall and started SAS because nobody else was doing anything about raw sewage outfalls.
They quickly became a very effective pressure group and succeeded in changing EU regulations that forced the private water companies of this country to actually do something about the very poor situation and serious risk to health.
I myself contracted pneumonia and was part of their survey of water users that provided backing to their campaigns with Parliament.
Today they are a globally respected organisation, consulted by Government bodies, even receiving funding from The Environment Agency.

does this mean I can no longer take a sh!t in the sea?

does this mean I can no longer take a sh!t in the sea?
You can, but only in the southern french beaches.
-
But I thought all 'real surfers' pissed themselves in their wetsuits to keep warm?
-
Thats a disgusting habit!
-
i'm fairly sure i'm not a *real* SURFER... I like recreational bodyboarding and kayaking :undecided:
What's a *real* SURFER when one is at home?

To be fair its the occassional water user that is at most risk. If you are not a member of SAS or other water user organisation then you do not have access to information about safe bathing waters.
In your own best interests to join something like SAS.
