I've recently had to replace a headlight washer jet cover and spray it myself. Ive finished with the paint and iv coated it with loads of layers of lacquer, but i just cant seem to get the shiny finish. Any suggestions? I've put about 5 layers of lacquer on now but it doesn't look shiny at all...
The new part i've resprayed on the left - Original cap sprayed from factory on the right

Must be the wrong silver paint?

Sand in between coats with a fine wet and dry. Sand final coat of lacquer and polish and you should get a shine!
-
that does not look like same silver :undecided:
-
i would take it to a bodyshop you will never make it look right with areosols, and i cant see it being an expensive paint job

To me that looks like youve done super light coats go to halfords get some rubbing compound and polish..... buff the life out of it !
-
Silver is the worst colour to try and match
-
Flat with 1500 upwards to 2500 and polish it with a polisher.

Did you heat the rattle cans up in some hot water before you sprayed them as the finish is night and day if its not the right temp. As said i would try wet sandiing it back using 2000 - 3000 grit wet and dry then try some cutting compound on them but you may need them done again. Silver is a b!tch to get right though even under normal circumstances.

Where you based mate if your local to me il sort it for you !

Looks to me that you've painted over fresh lacquer! you did put the paint of first didn't you?
Contrary to what you may have already heard, do not re flat paint or lacquer between coats, it just increases the chances of something going wrong!
Lacquer should only be applied after the basecoat has become touch dry, 10 to 15 mins is a good time after the last coat of colour
