Can you measure the inlet bore? Looks like a k04 compressor.maybe a hybrid of some kind. Not a KKK part though...

Not completely but only a few small mods like exhaust and air filter and a map
But it
Never really run great (about 170bhp)
So may have been mapped before with more mods
Wish I had bought standard tbh

James2 found this....

So are we thinkin it's a k03 hybrid
-
i know how you feel pal! would never buy a pre modded car again, why did you change the turbo? for more power or was it causing it to run poor?
-
Looks like it. If my AGU turbo needs a refurb im sending it to them. Might come back with 5 blades instead of 12.
-
would less blades be better ? :)

I would buy something modded but only if done properly not just a filter and exhaust like mine was. But now I know more I could check if it had been done properly
Was going for more power but turns out I may not have had to change it :undecided:

I think the blades are bigger and push more air through but are harder to spin so they are more aggressive
Anyone got any more specific guesses? As to what each part may be?
Cheers

It could be a hybrid ko3s but i dont recognise it from the castings, only by the number of blades, the ko4 had 10 I think.

So definatly not a k03s
Wonder what sort of power it would make and how much it's worth

Bigger blades , pump more air but need a bigger turbine to drive it. To find out exactly what the turbo is you'll need to know what the turbine size. I'd hazard a guess and say the compressor inducer is 42mm same as the k04.
Price is really hard to say, simply without proof of where it was bought, it could be a £250 cheap chinese turbo or a £600 hybrid and thus I don't think you realistically could sell it as its a huge gamble.. It may look good but without knowing its background you can say whether it is or not.
-
I'll give ya £20

Hmmm forgot about that :undecided:

Naaa I'm ok it seems good and it's in good condition in sure I could get a half decent price for it or keep it for when I plan to do a mk2 1.8t
-
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but just seen, which I missed before, the TS stamped into the compressor housing. This is a Toyosports turbo.. They're less than £300 new...
-
In light of the new info, my offer stands

Not that bad of news as really the turbo is in mint condition as there is no play in the shaft and the housing don't look to old so I would £200 would still be fair

This just confused me
Thanks for all info anyways guys at least I can try sell it with the proper knowledge
-
 looks like you need r-tech to map them .
-
Surely that turbo wouldn't flow anywhere near enough to get them sort of figures
-
411bhp.... It's not that big a turbo...haha
-
Even if it was what I think was, then 270bhp is tops...
I reckon what happened was, the previous owner had the original turbo fail on him, he bought a unit off eBay or a online shop and this was available as an upgrade unit for the same price as a stock unit , so why not fit the bigger turbo... Some of these cheaper turbos are pretty good but you just have to remember you can gt them brand new for £300 ....
-
 i saw they need a different map, not may people run them .Maybe im looking at the wrong thread on here. http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?action=printpage;topic=210467.0
HAD A FEW BEERS.

Yeah I'm guessin so....
Hmmm could make a proper hybrid out of it  but I cba
Will just sell put it up for £200 ono as a toyosport hybrid
-
Don disregard the ebay chinese/toyosports turbos, many people have no idea on how to tune them, I know of a certain someone who has had one running big power for years. Admittedly it was tuned by THE best in the business, its an anagram of T Rech.

Your thinking of the t3/t4 turbo

What are you classing big power?
-
One more thing i saw on your turbo was you wont be able to fit a silcon tip,it looks grounded off.One coment from a user of these turbos. One problem I had with fitting was the oem tip did not fit onto the compressor housing,I ended up machining mine out as I needed to be on the road that same day . :undecided: "Bolt on tip only".
-
......I had both a standard tip and a silicone one on this turbo Over the last year
-
ooh looks like the lips gone or been grinded down on your pic.

But I did have not TIPs' fitted I one point or another
-
Anyone got a link where they sell these turbos. I want to read up aboat them. I cant google/search find one for sell. :undecided:

Me neither.....already tried
-
strange, you would think you could find the spec. All i find is forums talking about them.As a upgrade. At least yours is ready to fit,i would hate to chop it down to fit (tip). see what r-tech say about them and mapping them (they did say its the better ko3s) . :smug:
